The Johnson County Dive Team hosted dive teams from 5 different counties in a combined training exercise at the Clarksville Aquatics Center at the Marvin Vinson Multipurpose Building on Thursday, March 20.
The training began at 4:00 p.m. and concluded at 9:00 p.m. with a debriefing on the training.
The teams trained in underwater communications, search patterns, diving simulations and evidence location and recovery.
Dive teams from Johnson, Pope, Logan, Prarie and Franklin Counties were represented at the training.
According to Darrell Plank, Johnson County Dive Team Coordinator, "The use of this facility during the winter months keeps us current on training and practices and allows multiple agencies the ability to train together in a controlled climate. This is the first of what we hope will be many multi-agency trainings here. As the weather and water temperature warms we will begin using our dive area near Piney Bay again for more training."
The Johnson County Dive Team is a 501c3 non-profit, established to serve the citizens of Johnson and other counties in the event of a water-related occurrence.
