Late Night Joyride Leads To Theft/Vandalism; Two Arrested

Two Clarksville residents were arrested on Thursday, October 17 after a late-night spree which left damage to 4 yards, one vehicle and the destruction of 5 headstones and the theft of another at Liberty Cemetery near Hunt.

Dean Vangorp, age 22 and Zachary Hunter Boydston, age 18 were arrested after evidence was obtained that linked them and a third person to the incidents.

Lt. Eddie Richards responded to the Hunt community on Thursday to take multiple reports of vandalism to yards and vehicles.  Upon further investigation it was determined that a single vehicle had spun around in 4 different yards, struck a vehicle parked in one of the yards and drove through Liberty Cemetery causing damage to 5 headstones.

Based upon information gathered by Richards, Detective Jacob Shook located a vehicle at a Clarksville residence which showed damage consistent with the damage in the Hunt community.

The owner of the vehicle, Boydston, gave consent to a search of the vehicle and a stolen headstone was located in the trunk.  Boydston was interviewed as well as passenger Vangorp and both were arrested on Felony charges of Defacing Objects of Public Respect, Felony Criminal Mischief in the 1st Degree and Felony Theft of Property.

The investigation is continuing and more arrests are expected.
