Sheriff's Office To Host Holiday Amnesty Program

For the second year, the Sheriff's Office will hold a warrant amnesty program for those with outstanding warrants from Johnson County.

This program is designed to lessen the chance that someone will be sitting in jail on Christmas or New Years Day, instead of spending those days with family and friends.

Anyone with a warrant can turn themselves into the Sheriff's Office or Detention Center by bringing 10% of their total bond and surrendering themselves.  The warrant will be served and they will be given a court date after the first of the year.

Anyone with an outstanding warrant will still be arrested if they are located at a residence or stopped by law enforcement.

This amnesty program only applies to those who willingly turn themselves in.  Those that take advantage of this program will be processed in and out in a matter of minutes after posting bond.  The amnesty offer will expire at midnight on December 31st.
