Deputies Discover Stolen Mailbox In Truck; 2 Arrested

Two Clarksville residents, Dillon Gannon, age 18 and Trevor Smith, age 19 were arrested by Deputy Todd Russell at approximately 2:00 a.m. when Russell observed the truck they were in had a mailbox in the back. Russell had been dispatched to the East Mount Zion area near County Road 3582 and 4400 after a resident reported someone in a black truck attempted to steal his mailbox. Russell made contact with the driver, Dillon Gannon and upon speaking to Gannon and noticing a smell of an intoxicant on his person, Gannon was arrested following a field sobriety test. The passenger, Trevor Smith was arrested for public intoxication after failing a field sobriety test. Deputy Russell was contacted by another person who told him that there were more mailboxes and road signs in a field near the suspect's residence. Gannon and Smith were transported to the detention center and Russell and Deputy Lance Clubb began searching the area for more missing/destroyed mailboxes or signs. Both suspects will be charged with 6 counts of Theft of Property and 3 counts of Criminal Mischief as well as Gannon's charge of D.U.I. and Smith's charge of Public Intoxication. A total of 6 mailboxes were involved with 2 being destroyed and 4 recovered, 1 recovered county road sign and 1 recovered state highway sign.
