Resident Arrested After Text Messaging Juveniles

A Hartman resident was arrested Friday, March 20 after the father of a 15 year-old high school student contacted authorities when he found numerous text messages of a sexual nature on his son's cell phone.  Alex East, age 21 was arrested after an interview with detectives.  East was placed in the Johnson County Detention Center and appeared before District Judge Len Bradley on March 23rd.  His bond was set at $5000.00 cash/commercial.  His cell phone and the cell phone of his victim will be sent to the state crime laboratory in Little Rock for analysis. East will be charged with Engaging Children in Sexual Explicit Conduct in the Use of Visual or Printed Material, a felony. East previously had applied for an auxiliary position with the Sheriff's Office and had passed a psychological and physical exam.  He was still in the process of his background investigation when the incident was brought to the attention of law enforcement.  His initial court date is May 1st is Johnson County Circuit Court
