Happy New Year

I don’t know about you, but to me this year has soared by! I took office on January 1, 2015 and I can honestly say it has been one of the best experiences I have ever had.  We have faced happy and sad times together but in the end we still get up and come to work to protect this wonderful county!  As 2016 approaches, I am reminded how fortunate I am to have served my first year with such an outstanding group of people.  The employees of the Johnson County Sheriff's Office are dedicated, hardworking, and committed to serving the citizens of Johnson County.  They work hard and long hours in order to give the best protection and service possible. I encourage you to give them a friendly smile or a kind word and remember them in your prayers.  I appreciate them very much, and I am truly fortunate to have the opportunity to serve with them each day.  I am also fortunate to have a wonderful loving wife, family and great friends to support me and our Office.  I appreciate their patience and understanding for all the times that I spend away from home for extended amount of time, the dinners that get cold waiting on me and the times I have to cancel an outing.  Their support means more than I could ever express here.  I’d also like to thank the residents of Johnson County.  With your love for our county, by working together, that has made Johnson County a great place to live, work, and raise a family.  I am thankful for the many tips and assistance you’ve provided throughout the year that have been of great value to solving many crimes.  I sincerely appreciate your commitment to the safety of our community.  The support you’ve shown me and the entire Sheriff’s Office during 2015 has been overwhelming.  I thank you for entrusting me with the responsibility of Sheriff and this is not a job I take lightly. Most importantly, I ask that you be responsible while celebrating the New Year.  If you need a ride home after consuming too much alcohol please do not hesitate to call us at 479-754-2200 so we can get you home safely to your family.  Your life and the safety of all matters to us so please be responsible.  Please know that we will not transport you to another function or gathering - only to the safety of your home. I look forward to 2016 with you and I will continue to work with you to improve the quality of life for each resident we serve. Happy New Year.                         Sheriff Larry Jones
