Dear Friends,

First let me begin by saying, it is my honor and privilege to serve as Sheriff of Johnson County! I am grateful to the citizens who elected me as their new Sheriff which I began on January 1, 2015. What an amazing way to start out the New Year!

I believe that the citizens of Johnson County deserve the very best protection and services from the Sheriff’s Office. I feel an obligation to help create positive change for our communities. It is my pledge to return the “Office of Sheriff” back to the people.

My goal is to develop a level of service, second to none, by providing assistance for our most precious resource: you, our citizens. As not only a police officer but as a citizen of the community, I am reminded daily of the dangers and pitfalls facing our children and adults - drugs, alcohol, thefts, and other criminal activities. I believe the positive relationships I have built with agencies state and nationwide will be a great asset to combating these issues.

I will stand accountable, ensuring that all Johnson County Sheriff’s Office personnel are professionally trained to meet the needs of the community and to perform tasks with a high level of proficiency. The Deputies, Detention center employees, and administration will be held at the highest of standards. 

One of the problems I see in this county is the community disconnect with law enforcement. The public is disgruntled because the perception is, that “No Body Cares”. I believe this is caused due to lack of working with the people and other agencies. I believe there is a gap in communication and I plan to bridge that gap immediately.

I bring to the community my compassion, administrative and leadership skills. My ability to achieve goals and objectives, both short and long-term visions, will provide a safe, secure, and better quality of life for all citizens of Johnson County.

As Sheriff, I will manage a very proactive and professional law enforcement organization that is dedicated to the community’s needs. This means more crime intervention and prevention, which will lead to less crime responses. My strategic plan will focus on community-oriented policing strategies directed towards proactive policing which constitutes but not limited to: an aggressive attack against drugs and substance abuse affecting our communities through extra patrols for citizens in high risk communities and business districts as a method to combat home and business invasions, multi-agency relationships, effective neighborhood watch programs, and town hall meetings to allow the citizens to voice their concerns and influence the direction of the Sheriff’s Office. I will also continue the partnerships I have with local school officials, city and county government, law enforcement agencies, and civic organizations ensuring citizen confidence.

In closing, the promise that I can make to you is very simple. I will serve you with integrity and professionalism and always keep our county's best interest at the forefront of every decision that I make.
