Spring Time

Dear Citizens,

This is such a great time of the year!  As I drive around our beautiful county, I enjoy seeing all the children out riding bikes, playing in the front yard, visiting the parks, etc.  However this can also be a dangerous time because we, the drivers, need to pay extra attention to our driving skills.  Be careful of that ball bouncing across the street, there more than likely will be a child chasing after it!  We need to be watching for the children because most likely they aren’t watching for us! Spring break begins the week of March 21, 2016 and we know our school age children, young adults, college students and teachers are looking forward to this break!  Many of our college students may travel “home” or off to that party destination.  Please use common sense and do NOT drink and drive!  Be aware of your surroundings and if it doesn’t feel right then it probably isn’t right.  Use the Buddy System and stay in groups!  Your safety whether you are here in Johnson County or traveling is very important to us!  Everyone needs to take their time to arrive safely at their destination. Eliminate distractions with driving, including the usage of mobile devices.  Also, remember to buckle up everyone in the vehicle.  If you are driving a long distance get plenty of rest and don’t drive fatigued – share the driving if possible! Enjoy the spring weather.  Get out and enjoy the many outdoor activities Johnson County offers.  If you see our Deputies out and about don’t forget to wave hello!  Thank you, as always, for giving me this opportunity to be your Johnson County Sheriff.
