Welcome to Johnson County, Arkansas!
Johnson County is Arkansas's 30th county, formed on November 16, 1833, from a portion of Pope County and named for Benjamin Johnson, a Territorial Judge.
We are located on I-40 and the Arkansas River between Little Rock and Fort Smith. This beautiful county has over 25,000 citizens with a total area of 683 square miles, of which 660 square miles is land and 23 square miles (3.4%) is water. Clarksville is the county seat with over 9,000 citizens.
We are known for our Annual Peach Festival that is one of the oldest festivals in the State of Arkansas. We have some of the most beautiful scenery that includes many activities such as hunting, fishing, swimming, biking, hiking and boating for people of all ages.
