A Johnson County resident awaiting transfer to the Arkansas Department of Corrections will face additional charges after damaging the contact visit room at the Detention Center on Saturday, July 17. Inmate Lawrence Fox, age 35 of Lamar was waiting in the visitation room when he was informed his visit was cancelled due to an earlier incident in his cell area. Fox became irate and began to break items in the room, including benches, tables, light fixtures and he managed to damage a metal door. Fox also attempted to break windows but was unsuccessful. Units of the Sheriff's Office, Clarksville P.D. and Arkansas State Police arrived at the detention center and Fox calmed down and was restrained. Fox faces an additional felony charge for the damage to the room. Fox was awaiting transfer to the ADC after accepting a 42 month plea agreement in Circuit Court on July 2 on a petition for revocation.
