Woman Arrested After Showing Up Intoxicated To Pay Fines

Kimberly Broome, Age 43 of Hartman was arrested on Friday, November 21 after she arrived at the Sheriff's Office to pay a fine after she had been drinking.  While speaking to the office clerk about the fine payment, the clerk noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming through the security window.  The clerk noticed Ms. Broom had slurred speech so she notified Detective Chad Morrow.  Detective Morrow walked to the lobby and spoke to Ms. Broome.  Detective Morrow noticed the strong smell of an intoxicant on her person as well as slurred speech and bloodshot, watery eyes.  Detective Morrow accompanied Ms. Broome outside to speak with her mother and while standing beside the vehicle, Ms. Broome asked her mother to hand her the beer.  Ms. Broome was handed a glass and Detective Morrow took the glass, which contained "home brew" as evidence.  Ms. Broome became agitated because she could not finish her drink.  Ms. Broome was placed under arrest for drinking in public, written a citation and taken to the Detention Center for processing.  The payment Ms. Broome was attempting to make would have been her last payment on old fines.
