Johnson County Sheriff's Office K9s Receive Vests

    The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office will receive three ballistic K9 vests thanks to a grant from Vested Interest in K9s.

    Basha, Egan and Opey, Johnson County Sheriff’s Office working K9s will each receive a vest.  Basha and Egan, Belgian Malinois, are patrol K9s which are trained in narcotics detection and are used in patrol, search warrants and school visits.      

    Opey, a Bavarian Bloodhound is part of the Sheriff’s Office search team, specializing in lost/missing persons, especially children.

     Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a 501c (3) charity located in East Taunton, MA. whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective bests for law enforcement dogs throughout the United States.

     Each vest costs $950.00 and has a 5 year warranty.  The nonprofit was established in 2009 to assist law enforcement agencies with this potentially life- saving body armor for their four legged K9 officers.

     Through private and corporate sponsorships, Vested Interest in K9s has provided 585 law enforcement dogs in 39 states with protective vests since 2009.

     All vests are custom made for each K9 and are made in the U.S.A.
