Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrest

A 24 year-old Hartman resident was arrested on drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop on Tuesday, October 9 at approximately 9:00 p.m.

Scott Allen Gibbs was arrested after being stopped by Deputy Todd Russell for traffic violations on Highway 164 near Hilltop Road north of Coal Hill.

During the traffic stop, Gibbs could produce no identiftion or drivers license and no license could be located for him in the database.

Russell arrested Gibbs for no drivers license and upon patting him down discovered a set of brass knuckles in Gibb's pants pocket.

During an inventory of the vehicle, Deputy Russell discovered a camera bag which contained a clear smoking device, spoon, and a syringe which contained suspected methamphetamine.

Gibbs was charged with Possession of A Controlled Substance (Meth), Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Careless/Prohibited Driving, Carrying A Prohibited Weapon, No Proof of Insurance, Fictitious Tags and No Drivers License.

Gibbs appeared before Circuit Judge Bill Pearson on Thursday, October 11 where his bond was set at $5000.00 cash/commercial wtih a court date of Novermber 2.
