Halloween Arrest

A 44 year-old Clarksville resident was arrested on Friday, October 28 after being discovered holding a weapon during a church sponsored hay-ride.

Auxiliary Deputies Justin Castleman and Bryan Scoggins were escorting a hay ride sponsored by the East Mount Zion Baptist Church on County Road 3470 when Castleman noticed a person walking out of the woods.  Castleman stopped to question the person when a female from the hay ride notified him that the subject was holding a pistol when Castleman drove up and threw it down in the ditch.

Deputy Castleman located the pistol and upon running a check on the subject, Randall Craig Jones, it was discovered that Jones was a convicted felon and was also out on bond for new criminal charges.

Jones was arrested and upon a search of his person and clothing for additional weapons, Deputy Castleman located suspected marijuana and a black container which contained several different pills.

Jones is charged with Possession of a Firearm By Certain Persons, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Schedule II Narcotic Medication), Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms and Possession of Prescription Medication Without a Prescription.

Jones’s next court date is November 4 in Johnson County Circuit Court.

Jones was not part of the church sponsored hay ride.
