The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of the Johnson County Sheriff's Office consists of two detectives –Detective Chad Morrow and Detective Jeff Wood.

Detective Morrow began working for the Johnson County Detention Center in 1998 before joining the United States Marine Corps. He returned to the Detention Center in 2001 after serving his country. He worked as a jailer and dispatcher until April of 2005 when he was hired as Deputy Sheriff. In 2007 he was promoted to CID officer.

Detective Wood began his law enforcement career in October 1996 as a Detention Center Officer at the Johnson County Detention Center (JCDC.) In 1998 Detective Wood left the JCDC in but remained active as an Auxiliary Deputy with the Sheriff’s Office doing transports. Detective Wood became a Patrol Deputy for the JCSO in March 2002 and moved to Criminal Investigation Division in August 2009 as a Criminal Investigator.

Once a uniformed Johnson County Deputy takes a report, C.I.D. will begin a follow-up investigation. C.I.D. is responsible for processing and cataloging evidence at crime scenes. They also prepare affidavits for arrest warrants, search warrants, interview victims, witnesses, and suspects, and perform many other related duties.

CID investigates crimes ranging from illegal drug activity, theft of property, residential and commercial burglary, criminal mischief, identity theft, computer fraud, arson, sexual assaults, and homicides. These incidents may be investigated with assistance of the patrol deputies, the Prosecuting Attorney, and other law enforcement agencies.

While investigating a crime the CID detective will conduct their investigations in a professional manner that is conductive to the discovery of the truth and the successful prosecution of those who commit crimes in Johnson County.

Information obtained from the public is also very valuable in all types of investigations. Detectives Morrow and Wood wish to encourage anyone with information about criminal activity, or any ongoing criminal investigations, to contact the Criminal Investigation Division.
