Auxiliary
|
The Johnson County Sheriff's Office Auxiliary program has been around for many years. The primary purpose of this program is to give people who like law enforcement a chance to put skills to work while they maintain their full-time jobs. This is a non-paid, volunteer position. Auxiliary deputies supplement patrol for full-time deputies, transport prisoners, take reports, make arrests, serve warrants and provide security for public events such as the Johnson County Peach Festival and County Fair. The full time deputy on duty supervises the Auxiliary Deputies.
Auxiliary deputies must be 21 years old and complete a physical and psychological exam prior to their appointment. They must complete a part-time II course with a minimum of 160 hours of training, which includes classroom, practical exercises, aerosol defensive spray and weapons training.
The Johnson County Sheriff's Auxiliary is a vital part of the Sheriff's Office and we are proud of the hard work and dedication these officers provide every day.
